Archaeological Study of the 1758 Land Tortoise Radeau

Following an initial 1993 disturbance survey of the radeau shipwreck, Bateaux Below archaeological divers and other hand-picked experienced divers conducted a three-year archaeological study of the deepwater shipwreck under the direction of Dr. D. K. Abbass, a Newport, Rhode Island archaeologist. The all volunteer effort by Bateaux Below and their colleagues, with logistical support from the Lake George Historical Association and Darrin Freshwater Institute, succeeded in creating a series of detailed drawings of the radeau.
