Shaping

While still in the forest, the builders removed waste material which made the boat lighter for transport. One builder used a chainsaw to cut notches across the width of the ahima. The builder in the foreground then used an adze to remove the wood. In this way the notches acted as a stop-cut which made the adze work more precise.
