Exhibit construction begins.

Building the Exhibit

Student curators began the preliminary exhibit set up as they positioned the exhibit cases and boat within the floor space. The student curators also decided on where to put the exhibit panels and photographs that will be used in the final exhibit. Exhibit planning requires many decisions about how the artifacts are best arranged and explained.

Graduate student Savannah Puterbaugh, painted one of the two moveable walls in the exhibit. The students assigned a different color for each of the three sections: cultural background, construction, and public outreach. The three major colors came from the Ghana national flag.

The nearly completed physical exhibit is in the IAB building on the Georgia Southern University's Statesboro campus.
