1950s Underwater Exploration

Beginning in the early 1950s, local SCUBA enthusiast, Carl Dunn, dived in Lake George for the newly formed Fort William Henry Corporation. Dunn reported seeing rocks sitting on top of a sunken vessel, probably a colonial bateau. Soon thereafter, the emerging popularity of SCUBA (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus) brought divers to Lake George and other shipwreck discoveries eventually followed.
